Terms of Use
Puff Promise is an educational tool — not a medical device, and not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. It’s built by a doctor as decision support, but it doesn’t replace advice from your own doctor or pharmacist.
Educational, not medical advice
Puff Promise gives you general, evidence-informed information to help you cut down or quit smoking and vaping. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Nothing here is a personal medical recommendation or a prescription.
About NRT and your quit plan
Information about nicotine replacement (patches, gum, lozenges and so on) is general education, not a dose order. Brands are shown for recognition, not endorsement. It’s wise to talk to a doctor or pharmacist before starting NRT — especially if you have heart, kidney, or liver conditions, or if you’re pregnant. Cold turkey is an equally valid path. You are responsible for your own health decisions.
Doctor-built, independent
The app is built by a doctor and draws on public guidance from bodies like the CDC, WHO, the American Lung Association, and NHS Smokefree. It is independent and not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any of those organisations or any national health service.
For adults
Puff Promise is intended for adults (18+). If you’re under 18 and want help quitting, please use a service designed for younger people.
Your account and conduct
You’re responsible for activity on your account and for being kind in messages and to the people you link with. We may suspend accounts that harass others or misuse the service.
Subscriptions and payment
Puff Promise is free to use, and the core stays free — your quit plan, the recovery timeline, Craving SOS, and linking with buddies and supporters. Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription (weekly, monthly, or annual) that unlocks the extras; the price is shown in the app in your local currency before you buy. Where a free trial is offered, it becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown until you cancel, and you can manage or cancel yours at any time in your Apple ID settings — cancelling stops the next renewal rather than the period you’ve already paid for. Purchases are processed by Apple, so billing and refund requests are handled under the App Store terms.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is”, without warranties. Quitting outcomes vary from person to person, and we can’t guarantee any particular result.
Not for emergencies
Puff Promise is not for medical emergencies or crises. If you feel unwell, are in danger, or need urgent help, contact your local emergency services (999 in the UK, 911 in the US) or a crisis line straight away — don’t rely on the app.
You accept the risks
Quitting nicotine, and any use of nicotine replacement, involves choices only you can make. By using Puff Promise you accept that changing your habits carries the normal risks of doing so, that results vary from person to person, and that you act on your own judgement — ideally alongside a doctor or pharmacist. You use the app voluntarily and at your own risk.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Puff Promise and its founder are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for outcomes that depend on your own health decisions or on third-party services (such as the App Store). Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot legally be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Where our liability can be limited, it is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £50.
Indemnity
If your misuse of the app, your content, or your breach of these terms leads to a claim against us by someone else, you agree to cover the reasonable, direct costs of dealing with that claim — except to the extent it was caused by our own fault.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by its courts. If the consumer law of the country where you live gives you additional rights or a right to bring a claim locally, those rights still apply. We’ll always try to resolve any issue with you directly first — reach us at hello@quitvapingbuddy.com.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. If we make a material change, we’ll flag it in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Puff Promise after a change means you accept the updated terms.
